Robert and Faye Davidson Named Arts and Culture Ambassadors by Pasadena Community Foundation

Robert and Faye Davidson share a passion for the arts and have long appreciated and supported the unique cultural mix that makes Pasadena special. Now they are doing it officially.

The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has appointed the Davidsons as Arts and Culture Ambassadors to lead the organization’s 60th anniversary celebration.

“The artistic and cultural resources in this community are vast,” says Robert Davidson.

“We should not take for granted the blessings of living amidst world-class museums, varied and significant architecture, and ready access to exceptional theatrical and musical performance as well as artistic educational institutions,” adds Faye Davidson. “Pasadena offers an enormous diversity that manifests in food, festivals and the rich exchange of cultures.”

Active in the community, the Davidsons give generously of their time to several arts and educational institutions. Robert is chairman of the Art Center College of Design board of trustees, and also chair of the board of Morehouse College where he and his three sons earned their college degrees. Faye is a member of the Pasadena Arts Alliance and serves on many other philanthropic boards. Together they are serious collectors of museum-quality art by historic African American artists.

With its long tradition of funding the arts, PCF executive director Jennifer DeVoll reports the Foundation has contributed more than $2.3 million to local nonprofits.

“These include many of the most prominent artistic and cultural organizations in our community such as the Symphony, the Playhouse, the Armory and the Pacific Asia Museum,” says DeVoll. “PCF has also awarded grants to smaller and emerging organizations such as the Pasadena Master Chorale, Lineage Dance, Parsons Nose Productions and the Pasadena Mexican–American Association. By having the Davidsons as our Arts and Culture Ambassadors, we will be able to fund worthy organizations in our community that may, otherwise, have been overlooked.”

Established in 1953 by philanthropists Mr. and Mrs. Louis Webb, the Pasadena Community Foundation provides funding to six targeted areas including arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services and youth.
