ENERGY Opening Friday

This Friday, October 8, ENERGY, a new exhibition at the College’s Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery, will open as part of the annual ArtNight Pasadena. The exhibit’s opening reception will be from 6 to 10 p.m.

ENERGY investigates how natural forces shape not only material things, but affect our emotions and intellect.

As part of the Williamson Gallery’s mission, students in Art Center’s Design for Sustainability 2 class will use a section of the gallery as their studio, studying and displaying their exploration of the question, “Where do energy and design intersect?”

ArtNight Pasadena kicks off Pasadena ArtWeekend, a three-day, citywide arts festival.

Po the Panda is Here!

Williamson Gallery Director Stephen Nowlin gives us a behind-the-scenes peek at the installation of the upcoming exhibit DreamWorlds, opening March 4. A partnership between the College and DreamWorks Animation, the exhibit will highlight the artistry and craftsmanship behind today’s most successful animated features.

Become a fan of the Williamson Gallery on Facebook for exclusive updates as the exhibit takes shape. And speaking of Facebook, the official College Facebook page has officially launched—become a fan today!

Things That Float

Our own Stephen Nowlin, director and curator of the Williamson Gallery, is the first participant of NASA Images’ “Guest Showcase,” a monthly presentation of digital exhibitions curated by leading professionals in the fields of science, education, art, entertainment, business and academia. The exhibitions will consist of carefully selected images, videos and audio from NASA Images. Nowlin’s piece is titled Things That Float.

“As a native Earthling, bred and raised with an awe-threshold heavily influenced by our terra-firma existence, I remain captivated by how big things stuck to the surface down here can hover like floating poetry up there in the blackness of space,” Nowlin writes.
