True to this blooming season, creatively fertility has flourished over the past few months among Art Center’s alumni. Below you’ll find a sampling of some of their recent undertakings and achievements. And in an effort to more comprehensively represent our creative community, we’d like to encourage the alums among us to send us a line about any noteworthy events, achievements or projects you’d like us to include in future editions of this digest.

News

Cory Grosser (BS 01 Environmental), whose work was shown during Milano Design Week, was awarded the 2014 edition of the Cristalplant Design Contest in collaboration with Agape. His work is included in the Agape Catalogue. Cristalplant Design Contest. April 8 –13.

Helen Greene (BFA 97 Illustration) is the founder, president and executive creative director of Greenhaus GFX. She recently led the motion design and VFX studio in unveiling its new reel, which  includes upcoming films such as “Maleficent,” and Marvel’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy.” Greenhaus GFX.

The work of Christopher Marion Thomas (BFA 12 Illustration) was highlighted in an article on The Wall Breakers blog.

The words and photographs of Amanda Greene (BFA 97 Photography) were featured on The Bitter Southerner.

Ping Zhu (BFA 10 Illustration) was interviewed about her background and creative process on The Great Discontent.

Exhibitions

Olivia Barrionuevo (BFA 07 Photography) was included in a group exhibition for the sixth annual Month of Photography centered around the 2014 MOPLA theme: Communities and Cultures. The selection of work by local and international artists took place at Basecamp@theBrewery in Los Angeles. April 24 – April 30.

Michael Yamaoka (BFA 68 Photography) will be exhibiting his photographs in the “MONUMENTAL FANTASTIES” exhibitions at Atlantic Gallery in New York City. Atlantic Gallery. June 3 – June 21.

Jim Murray (BFA 71 Illustration) will be featured in a solo exhibition at Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura, entitled “Firsthand YOSEMITE: Winter Series.” Sylvia White Gallery. June 4 – July 5.

Matthew Rolston (BFA 78 Photography) is featured in a solo exhibition, Talking Heads, at Diane Rosenstein Fine Art in Los Angeles. Diane Rosenstein.  June 7 – July 12.

Crowdfunding

Adam Meltzer (MFA 03 Film) is crowdsourcing sponsorship for a 250-mile journey from San Francisco to Sacramento on bike to combat global climate change. Climate Ride. May 17– 20.
